Early year

Has anyone else noticed how amazingly early the greggii/microphylla bloom has been here in the east - no doubt caused by our almost winterless winter. On average first flowers appear for me in New Jersey Zone 7a around the beginning of May. This year the first of the Neurepia hybrids opened the last day of March around 45 days ahead of schedule and at the end of April just about every one of the roughly 100 plants is in full bloom, something usually not seen until June. Even latish ones like Scarlet Spires will open very soon. Anyone who is curious about how floriferous this April has been can see photos of the Palmyra gardens at the network 54 hummingbird (Hummingbird Forum) site.
