When to transplant Black and Blue

Saliva Black and Blue are only marginally hardy here. This year, however, they are all coming back. I removed the mulch a couple of weeks ago and fertilized. New green growth is just starting.

I want to move one of them, but we have had a serious cold spell for the last few days--snow and hail and low temps to freezing for several days. I have lost these plants in the past when this happens. Temps are going up to 45-50 F in the next few days, though.

Should I transplant now before more new growth, or wait a bit. The longer I wait, the dryer it gets.

Thanks much.

It is fine to transplant your black and blue now just dig down to the tubers and remove them too you should no problems.

Worked great. Transplanted plants are identical to undisturbed plants one week later.
All are continuing to grow.

Thanks
