salvia splendens flowers

It seems every story in my town got in these bright red salvias splendens , red hot sally. Now I didnt know if they would attract hummers but in seaching I find they are one of the picks northern hummer gardners. Anyway they are pretty things and for a $1.79 a 6pack I couldnt resist

RE: salvia splendens flowers

The main problem with most Salvia splendens forms is that the calyxes, not the flowers, are responsible for the showy displays. Flowers usually don't last long, so the plants won't be as effective attracting and feeding hummers.
