Pruning old Salvia greggii 'Furman's Red'

I have a number of Salvia greggii "Furman's Red" that have gotten old, leggy, and sprawly. How and when do I prune them to get the optimal re-growth and flowering? Also, is there a time when I can cut them back hard to produce bushier plants? They are starting to bloom now so I don't want to cut them all back at the same time.

I also have surviving Salvias "Maraschino" and "San Carlos Festival" and would appreciate the same info on those.
