No ID Salvia

I bought this in the Salvia section at a local college hort sale. There was no tag, and they admitted they had no clue what it is. It resembles S. rubiginosa, but the bracts are dark purple. Before I go through Robin's entire site [I know I've seen this plant before...], can anyone enlighten me as to what it is? I can take a more detailed photo, if needed. Thank you!

OK, I think it's S. rubiginosa. I was just a bit confused, because this is how my rubiginosa plants look now... no longer are the bracts so dark.

Sure looks like rubiginosa. I find the bracts change colour frequently, maybe amount of sunlight?

The color of the bracts is a good indication of the growing conditions. Bright sunny days and cool nights, found in arid conditions, darkens bracts and the plants tend to be more compact and robust. That's one reason Mediterranean climatic zones produce better results with subtropical sages.
