Pineapple Sage

Do the leaves of a pineapple sage smell like pineapple or just the flowers. I just purchased two pineapple sage plants and the leaves do not have a pineapple smell.

Thanks
Marilyn

The leaves have just a slight pineapple scent, sometimes only after significant crushing with the fingers.

Thanks, so maybe I am going to have to wait for it to bloom to know for sure if I have a pineapple sage. When I crushed some of the leaves I could definitely smell the sage.

The leaves will smell stronger as the plants gets bigger, but it's the crushed leaves that have the scent.

Thanks Westelle, maybe there is hope that mine plants are pineapple sage. Right now they are about 6" tall.

The scent may get stronger in cooler weather.
