Salvia wilting from lots of rain

I planted my purple salvia last year and to my surprise it came back this year full-force and over doubled in size (I have a very black thumb!)! I was so excited to see it thrive but within the last couple of days we have received a lot of hard, heavy rain and now it is completely flat.

Will it stand up again once it dries out? Do I need to train it to stand up again by tying it or using another method?

We have the Salvia nemorosa 'Caradonna'.
I have a feeling it did this from over watering...not only did it rain heavily on it but my husband and I both watered the plant the 2 days previous to the heavy rains.
I went ahead and just cut back the whole thing to see if it would rebloom...I'm crossing my fingers!
