Corn glutten can be used as a pre-emergent or you can look
for some other pre-emergents. Doveweed (Setgerus)- this member ot he euphorbia family is a annual that comes up in areas where the soil has disturbed. There are some other "Doveweeds" as well but they are all annuals so easy to control. Remove mature plants so seed is not produced first. The other plant is this a Asiatic Lily(lilium) or a Daylily(Hemerocallis) ?

As hybridweed said, just pull the Dove Weed out by hand.... BUT WEAR GLOVES!
Dove Weed has oils that go thru' skin and affect the heart. (Ask me how I know.)

The Lily is quite pretty, but I bet you'll need to dig out the roots where you don't want them to grow.

Thanks for the pic. The plant you have is Dayflower or Widows tears(Commelina spp). We have several forms of this in the Austin Area. If you know for a fact yours is the Asian Dayflower (Commelina communis) it is annual. But in Zone 8 they would be flowering in the spring not now. I am thinking you have the perennial form (Commelina erecta)it has a fibrous root system much like a Daylily. Dig out the roots and apply a pre-emergent and you should be fine!
