If you accept that deep rose is synonymous with fuchsia and magenta, there are a lot of candidates, like Salvia involucratas and puberulas, S. iodantha, S. oxyphora (still not in the USA), S. curviflora, and S. raymondii, not to mention various forms of S. greggii and S. microphylla.

Thank you for your replies. I found Jung's do sell Pink Friesland, and I will check the other names given to see their color.

Salvia penstemonoides has a deep fuschia bloom. hardy to Zone 7

Salvia greggii 'Dark Dancer' is one of my favorites. It is also a favorite of hummingbirds. The light conditions on these two photos, taken seconds apart just yesterday while I was stalking the hummingbird -- make the color look different, but it is a very deep, deep magenta bloom.

This salvia is great with the magenta blooms of companions agastache 'Heather Queen' and echinacea 'Prairie Splendor' and spirea 'Neon Flash'. A pink muhly grass is also a great companion during the autumn when the grass and the salvia are really blooming. The dark foliage in the photo is a crape myrtle 'White Chocolate' and that's a fading blue bloom of echinops 'ritro'.
