When will my mexican limelight flower? I have a plant that is 5- 5 1/2 feet tall. I have three others around 3 1/2- 4 feet tall. They all look very healthy. I started them from seed this spring under lights. They are now in my garden that get at least 8 hrs. of sun.

Hi, Duane! I could be wrong but I think it's a late summer/fall bloomer - that's when mine was in bloom.

Out of curiosity, what month did you sow the seed? I think it amazing that it went from seed to 3-5+ ft in a matter of months. You've definitely done everything right!

Mine bloomed in October November in 2003 when I had one. Sarah

I was afraid Sara was going to say that. There are three out in the garden - $2.00 sale plants - that have been growing very well and are beginning to send up their flower stalks. October-November is a real bad time to bloom in our area, since it is a real good time for freezes. While they are a nice foliage plant, I don't usually grow salvias for their excellent green foliage. You should do better in Zone 8 than we can do here Duane. When do you get your first frost?

It's a great plant but it is a late bloomer. I believe mine started blooming in September up until frost in October. Trina
