Yes, it is nice, but the real S. sclarea with the pink bracts is so much better, as the colour lasts much longer. I don't find the scent at all offensive...but many people do!

I tried the pink one a few years ago, and it didn't reseed. I'll have to give it another try!

Both forms are really nice plants, and with our mild winters here grow huge, reaching 5 feet with multiple flower stalks when in flower.

They reseed freely for me as well, so I only leave some plants to enjoy each year.

They are extremely drought tolerant too. I have seedlings that survive here, with no summer water at all during the summer by producing ver woolly leaves till the fall rainfall comes. I have found that the most drought this salvia (and other natives) gets, the most aromatic it gets.

I have also found wild Salvia turkestanica in medium elevations of mountains in northern Greece. These plants aren't tall just around 50cm, with 2-3 stems each. They look really cool, growing between oak trees with association with other wildflowers like Lysimachias and Liliums. Maybe some day I should collect seed and find out if they turn out to be 'dwarf' in my garden as well.
