I'm hoping someone can identify this for me. I bought it in the salvia section of the nursery, but it had no ID on it. The plant is about a foot tall. Sorry for the blurred picture.
Thanks. |

| I doubt it is a Salvia. A Cuphea (cigar plant) maybe? It has to have a lever mechanism to be a Salvia. New World sages have an upper hood and a lower lip attached to a tube as well. |
| Rich - what's a "lever mechanism?" |
| Yeh Rich is right it looks like a cuphea, specifically Flamenco Rumba. I linked a picture. Adele |

| Go to the Sexual Organs - Pistil and Stamen section of the Salvia flower structures web page and note the section about the connective. Squeezing the flower in the way indicated simulates the action of a true pollinator. |

| Rich and Adele - thanks for your input. Adele - I don't think it has the white in it that the Cuphea 'flamenco rumba' has. Instead, I think it might be a Cuphea 'fireworks.' |
| Cindy, also look up C. 'Flamenco Samba'. |
| My 'Flamenco Rumba' doesn't have white in it.
