In the UK, Salvia 'Christine Yeo' is a popular, rightly so, hybrid of S. microphylla x chamaedryoides. A terrific plant, which is hardy, and the flowers are a unique purple colour. This was discovered by Christine Yeo, who has for years been the British Salvia expert.

Salvia 'C Yeo' did very well in my garden. I had a profusion of flowers during the height of summer and all in all it flowered for 8 months. It did require a bit of extra watering, though; too long without water and the flowers began to wilt. It grew to 80x80cm (2'8"x2'8"). Some stems seem to bend in wayward directions, others lax, though mostly upright. A stem even self-layered or self-rooted which I've since heard it one of the easiest ways to propogate this plant.

My repens from Seedhunt seed (that I traded for) made it through last winter. Not that impressive though - very small flowers - were more lilac last year - this year I thought the flowers looked more like white. & the stalk was very floppy- but it could have been hammered by the rain- last year it was more upright.

I bought Four from PDN this spring. California Sunset, Diane, Lipstick, and Blue Chitiqua. I am crazy about Diane. Love the color and while I like the peach color of the CA sunset, it seems frailer that the others. Could just be in a bad location in the garden. Trina
