Whatever it is, it is not a salvia. Salvia Flowers dont look like that. It sure is a pretty coloured flower though.

My first impression is that this is a Loosestrife. If so, it can be a noxious invasive. See the link below for more information.

It's very hard to believe that two different traders sent me loosestrife, unless one had extra from another trade, who happened to be one of my traders! Well, I don't want to get rid of it, so I'll just have to keep it deadheaded and keep an eye on it. I really love it's tendency to remain upright...

You may be right in that it's Loosestrife, Rich, but I have a niggling in my brain that thinks it's one of the Penstemons..... but for the life of me I can remember which one. Unfortunately I've loan-out all my good reference books.

But it does look like loosestrife.

The hazard isn't in the seeding nearby, but that birds eat the seeds then "drop" them elsewhere inside a packet of fertilizer (bird poop).

Best to destroy the plants.

That's Loosestrife, 'Morden's Pink'. I know. I have it. Its invasive near water. Mine is in my dry and unwatered hell strip. I like it though!

It's so pretty I wouldn't mind it spreading around here! Course it wouldn't... too dry here.
