Ugly Dwarf Salvia - Smells Terrible!

This past spring, I found beautiful dwarf Salvia at my local nursery. I planted 2 plants in my perennial garden. They did great. However, after I pruned back the dead blooms, the plant tried to bloom again but the stalks/blooms drooped on the ground, it looked terrible. I cut them way back since they were so unsightly.

They also smell terrible, like kitty urine - ick!

Any suggestions? Are they supposed to droop? The reason I bought them was because they were "dwarf". I threw the tag away, but I think they were only supposed to be 8" tall.

I won't comment on your name of badgardener, but why did you throw the tags away???

What colour were the flowers? Do you have a photo?

Robin.

I find that quite a few of the salvias have strange odors. Your description of cat urine is dead on but I still love the plants!
