Firstly, the name should be just `Sapphire', unless someone is unaware that name is already in use and is using the name you gave for a new form. I hope to avoid confusion.

`Sapphire' is probably a variation or merely a marketing name of the old-fashioned Brazil form. `Brazil form' is not a good marketing name. The other popular form in the USA is `Blue Ensign', which is a bunch more durable and vigorous. Both of these forms send out robust stolons.. These may take a second year in a large pot or in the ground to show up, and spread as much as `Black & Blue' and `Argentina Skies'.

Two new introductions from Rolando Uria are `Santa Maria' and `Cosquin', which are smaller versions with similar appearances.

Thanks so much, Rich. I needed that reminder about a plant w/ stolons quickly outgrowing a pot. Periodically I can take the plant out of the pot, divide it & give away half. I can type up a warning label for the recipient & tie it on! Glad to hear about new salvia. Thanks again.
