Salvia (fall planting)

Please excuse this posting if it is a duplicate. Can't locate my first posting.

Is it too late to plant salvia from seed in zone 9a? Will I have to protect the salvia from frost or freeze? It is rare that we get temps for very long below freezing, but will get some days. Maybe I should just wait until spring???

Small salvia plants will need protection. I would set out plants, and be prepared to cover them for nights with freezes.
