 o
salvia leucantha - when to divide

Posted by jrgardner z8b FL (My Page) on

What time of year is best to divide my salvia leucantha? It's gotten too large for it's current home, so I'd like to divide for extra plants in other areas. It's so beautiful right now -- full of blooms.

Thanks,
JR

When the blooms are done and it's looking a bit ratty cut it back to the ground and then dig. I need to do this to some of my leucantha too, but I'll do mine in February... just before it warms up.

Make sure that you have a multitude of stems coming out of the base from under ground. Only these stems with roots will give you successful divisions.
