| Is there a resource that lists the common salvias and what their nominal bloomtime is? I am trying to put in a garden that will bloom from early spring through as much of winter as possible. The information seems to be out there on the internet in different places but I was wondering if anyone has brought it all together in one place.
thanks! Rose |

| mysticfoxtrot; It would be a formidable task to keep such information in one location. Due to elevation, species weather all play such an important role in determining what Salvia species growing in different conditions would bloom when. IE:usda Zone 8 in California,Texas,Florida would all have different growing conditions in different years. Hope I explained that clearly Art |

| Check out the 'New Book of Salvias' by Betsy Clebsch. She certainly does not have them all (pretty hard to do),but she's in Santa Cruz and knows how salvias grow in California. Your library probably has it. Also, you can glean info by checking what the various nurseries who sell salvias have to say about each one....check the website for Native Sons Nursery (Calif.), Digging Dog Nursery (Calif.), Canyon Creek (Calif., Nursery may be closed now, not sure, but website may still be up). Take a look at the Cabrillo College website about their salvia collection. Also 'California Gardens'... |
