| Someone gave me a cutting of this salvia last fall and called it "purple salvia." Well, this fall it has bloomed and I can't find an ID by searching for "purple salvia." Can anyone help? Thanks.

| I'm guessing it is Salvia purpurea. |

| Your right Rich, the foliage is so different from my purpurea that it did not come to mind.I ruled out urica as the buds are not blue and coccinea the buds are not blue either. Thanks for correcting that. Art |

| Thanks for the ID. Thanks too for letting me know that the buds have yet to open fully. I'll be looking forward to the purple blooms. |
