To dig or not to dig

I have been having a bit of trouble getting cuttings of some of the new greggii seedlings to take because of the cool weather - cuttings often give me problems at this time of year. I am thinking I could start bottom heat in the basement or dig up the ones I want to propagate. Just this morning I noticed a seedling that must have germinated last year next to a row of Raspberry Delight was in bloom. It is the loveliest purple pink on the upper petal while the lower petal fades to a light pink. I don't want to lose this one and I am looking for the safest course of action.
