The species S. mexicana has dark calyces, or it could be one of the other cultivars like 'Lollie Jackson' or 'Puerto de la Zorra'. I think only Limelight and Tula have the chartreuse calyces.

Thanks Karen for some reason I thought it was labeled salvia mexicana limelight. I guess it must be the species or lollie jackson or puerto la Zorra. Sarah

Sarah, there are other S. mexicana cultivars that could fit, those are just the ones I've grown. I'm not familiar enough with the differences between them all to pin it down specifically.

Thanks Karen. I think it might have been mislabed. Sarah

Nope, definitely a dark-calyx mexicana. These include Ocampo, La Placita, Compton's form (not here, though) as well as PdlZ and LJ. Foliage and calyxes give it away. There are forms of mexicana with green calyxes as well, but they have not been selected for propagation.
