Anyone Growing Salvia barrelieri?

| I just added this one to my collection. Are you growing it? If so, what companion plants did you plant with it? I'd love to add penstamens, but the deer in my area love them as much as they do roses! :-D
Suggestions anyone? |

| Salvia barrelieri is a short-lived biennial, occasionally perennial if the dead flower heads are removed.....but then you won't get seeds! A spectacular Salvia, but unfortunately only has a short flowering season. Pink roses would combine well. Weird weather in UK this year has caused my barrelieri to have a second flush, never known before. Huge stems of magnificent blue flowers just in front of a huge S. madrensis, which is in full bud, and has been threatening to flower for the last 2 weeks! Dreading the first frost, none forecast for the mext week or so. Best regards........Robin. |

| Thanx Robin for your responses to both my posts. Glad to hear that you paired this salvia with roses -- OGRs are my second love. We're not expecting hard frosts here until Feb., but it will get cold and dreary in the next few weeks -- boo hoo! j. |
