Anyone out there who has seeds available of Salvia pomifera and other Mediterranean Salvia abd Sideritis species used for the preparation of tea? I live in the Netherlands.

I've tried looking for seeds in packages of Greek Mountain Tea bought in small ethic groceries in New York City. I was looking for Salvia cadmica at the time.

Many Sideritis and Salvia species can be found on Index Seminum from botanic gardens or the North American Rock Garden Society seed list. You have to be a member of the latter and have seed to trade with the former, or be a member.

Start off with the Denver Botanical Garden.

For a list of botanic gardens, visit APGA (formerly AABGA, the Association of American Botanic Gardens and Arboreta)

Hi janus59:

Seedhunt has listings for Sideritis & other salvia seeds. I don't know which varieties are good for tea but you could check their list and see.

British, Scottish, and European rock garden societies could also be useful.

I bought Salvia pomifera today at UCB Botanical, even though I'd never heard of it before. It's blooming now. We shall see how it does in my garden!
