I see my current fave in your album...and it gets 2 pix as it well should. S. Rubescens. It is finally all grown up (grew it from seed) and it is flowering its head off right now. The hummingbirds are beside themselves with joy.

Ever grown S. Puberula? I don't see a picture. It's a fairly unique looking one in terms of flower shape, no?

Salvia Azurea is hardy here in western NY zone 6b. Also try Salvia Pachyphylla which is said to be hardy in zones 5-9, Salvia penstemonoides zones 6-10, Salvia jurisicii 'Blue' zones 4-8, Salvia daghestanica zones 5-8, Salvia Reptens zones 5-10, Salvia X sylvestris Blue Queen and Rose queen both hardy to zone 4, and some of the Greggis may be hardy for you.

OK, I just stumbled across this old post - rootman, I loooove salvia caradonna, the stems are beautiful - check out this photo:

Currently, my favorite salvia is 'Marcus'. Said to be a seedling of 'East Friesland', but is shorter and a tad more blue than purple. It's pretty much "flop-proof". Wonderfully low growing.

The 2 I really like are the Indigo Spires (grows 34-36") but if it falls over, it just engulfs the bed with wonderful neon blue flowers. In Maryland it blooms late summer into fall.

Another one is the Black and Blue. Busher that Indigo and shorter but great blue flowers. You'll love both.
