I thank you very much! Next time I head to Uruguay I will
get in touch and see who to get as a guide.I really have not seen any Salvias there.I have not had time to go up in
the granite hills around Piriapolis. But with Argentina just to the south.That may be the place to go to look for
Salvias.

The northern part of Argentina is the best location for Salvias. Salta is where Carl Schoenfeld has his ranch. Not too much in Uruguay, but there are more possibilities in Paraguay in the Gran Chaco.

I'd love to travel through the Andes myself, but it is too dangerous for gringos right now, especially in Columbia. The one I am lusting for right now is Salvia pseudorosmarinus from Peru.

There are a lot of nice sages in the Brazilian Highlands in Minas Gerais state.

Aside from sussing out its particular horticultural needs, Salvia psedoromarinus looks remarkably like a prostrate rosemary, but with bigger flowers. I hope it can be brought in, and then proves to be a good hort subject.

I think the new world sages are more closely related to Rosmarinus by DNA work, so it should be a really interesting species to study.
