Salvia hians flowers

My Salvia hians flowered last week, and here are a couple photographs of this very beautiful plant. The inflorescence is completely filled with these plump light purple flowers. I obtained seeds from J. L. Hudson, Seedsman that gave rise to this plant, which is almost 2 year old. I brought the plant indoors because it made a couple flower stems in very late Autumn, and I did want to see its flowers. After it finishes flowering I will ease the container back outdoors.

My apologies for depth of field challenged second image, I am using a film camera and I just can't seem to get it right with low light conditions.

Beautiful! The word that always comes to mind when seeing these blooms is "plump". :)

Another beauty! Did it take two years for this plant to bloom? Do you grow most of your salvia in pots rather than in your yard? Most of mind end up in the yard somewhere.

Thank you Brenda and Becky! I grow a new Salvia (new to me) in a container first to get to know it, then I can figure out where I can put it in the main garden. It seemed like 2 years but I did not record when I started the seeds...it may have been only 1 year. Sorry about that.
