Use your finger to test soil moisture, go down 2 inches or so. This should be a good indicator of when to or not water. Your Whitney looks like "He" is streching for light.
Prehaps a location shift is in order? Good Luck. By the way, Yours is brighter looking than mine at the moment, as my guy needs a location shift too, LOL!

In a mix like that, you don't have to be so strict about watering. If it is airy, root rot is much less likely.

Thanks all, the soil was pretty dry, so I watered. The Whitney is in a southeast window, so the light is pretty good, but I have changed positions to try to get a good spot. The Whitney is looking better after a good watering. :)

I agree with the above probably dry and in a loose mix it is less likely to overwater. Another tip for winter watering is to water with very warm water and water in the morning on a sunny bright day. Be careful not to spill water in the crown......e.g. try to water the soil only without wetting the plant. Indoor heating can dry out these plants pretty easily in winter and they may need more water than they think....even moreso in small pots and clay pots dry even faster. The biggest problem in winter is excess and/or cold water sitting in foliage.....watering in the morning and on a sunny day helps make sure things dry before the cooler nightfall.

The Whitney got a good drink, and is looking better. My office is actually pretty warm most of the winter (especially this winter, which has been record-breakingly mild this year in our area) so I should probably just start watering more often.) Thanks all!
