You may know these are about the toughest plants there are. Is the plant potbound? They do like this, but if it's cracking the pot it's time for a new one. It may need fresh soil. The snake plant can put up w/low light, but it wont thrive there. Put it in the lightest window you have. Divide the good stalks and pot them up, get rid of the dead ones. I only water once a month also, like cacti, they do very well. Give it a diluted small amt. of fertilizer too. Once it starts growing well it will be very easy care. I love mine, they are beautiful! Please wait until at least April 1 before you water it again, where you live you will kill it with too much attention. When you have warm weather water then fertilze. Don't transplant until it breaks the pot. They love to be underpotted. Thank you, Norma
