Scale on my Sans!!!

This morning, I found SCALE on my Sans! It's a cultivar from my mom that she's had more than 30 yrs. I've owned this baby for 9 yrs and have NEVER seen this. I fear that the scale arrived on a new Drac cordyline I just purchased.
I've banned the DC to another room and will attack the scale by picking, after misting with a 1/3 water, palmolive dish soap and oil adding a bit of alcohol. Then I'll wipe down each gloriously tall leaf w/ cotton ball and alcohol.
Thank you all very much for the great posts. I was really at a loss...

RE: Scale on my Sans!!!

I don't get bugs on this species, but I do on Haworthia, I use Windex. or 25% alcohol with water, or dirty dishwater from a greasy hand washed frying pan. Not dishwasher soaps, soap, 'White King' 'Ivory' like your grandmother used on Roses. Neem Oil works, which is a natural killer. Or Saffer's Soap. Just a few suggestions. Bayer's Rose 2-1 with a stemtic, or a just a stemtic if you can find one, always follow directions and wash hands after you use the stemtic. Norma
