Are you sure that is the correct name for that plant, the leaves should form an S with the leaves at the base. (soil line) The picture doesn't show that so that is why I'm asking. it is a gorgeous plant, really beautiful. Thanks for showing this plant. Norma

Yours grows more in a fountain shape, and the channel is different, (none) it is winter here so there are grooves, because I cut my water way down so it wouldn't rot, my leaves grow straint up from a cental starting point, but do not spread out. A good lesson: when grown in different climates with different hortiultural conditions how different they can look, I wouldn't have guess that it is the same species. Mine does not look like a tropical plant but a very African one. It looks like cylindrical v cylindrica but in a clump faned out like you would a deck of cards, forming that s at the base. Norma

Most of us who have kept this species here feed them as much as they can eat!

Yep, it sure looks different to me, the first picture of S. eilensis is great, and looks like ours at the Huntington. That variegated one of 'Midnight Fountain' looks different as well, and the green one, what kind of meat and potatoes are you feeding those plants? That was an accepted name change for S. schweinfurthii, I don't know who made the change. LOL Norma
