Well I am not Norma but I can answer this although you probably are not looking for an answer anymore. I accidentally broke a tip off of a birdnest. I stuck the leaf into a cactus potting soil. I held it in place with tooth pics-2 on each side. Then I waited for almost a year. It was really hard not to pick the leaf up from time to time. (so I did!) I would spray the little guy every so often. There is no need to water if you don't have roots. It took a very long time to see a little bitty baby.

Adding bottom heat is particularly helpful when rooting leaf cuts. Maybe a heating pad could be used to advantage. Many successful nurserymen use 100 percent moist perlite to provide a humid, but yet not wet, environment for their cuttings.
