I grow some of my thick leaf species under those conditions. I had a group outside during outside 5 night below 30F doen to 23F - no damage done. I have withheld water unless I knew the temps, were not going to dip for the next few nights, they did just fine. Several, I had young offsetts and cuttings out as well, they have done fine. Just be careful of the watering, and if necessary to water, use water that is at room temperature or just tepid, keeping the water off the leaves and away from the base of the plant. Norma

thank you for your response. would you mind sharing with me the names of some of the "thick leaf species" you mention so i may do some research on them? as well as any others you think might do well in this application?

Here is a few, but please remember that my temperatures didn't go below 26F for a few nights, I didn't water most of the winter except when I knew temps. were not going down below 50F for several nights. Outside overhead protection was given, and they lived on a table against the garage wall. No drafts. I probably can come up with more names if necessary. Good luck, don't start them out during the cold months, start them in April, so they can get enough rhyizomes to hold them over a winter. Norma
