Where are you located? Is it warm enough to put it outside so the soil will dry out quickly?

I am in Arkansas. Today's high is 70 low 49. It is supposed to get colder the rest of this week w/ showers. The plant is in my office. It seems to be almost dry now. At least, within the top two inches. So, I'm guessing in keeping in indoors, I will need to be very careful about not over watering. It has just lost the tip of one leaf from becoming soggy. All the other leaves look ok.

Sans need very light soil--cactus soil, perlite, very sharp sand and ground bark. Too much water will make them rot. Unpot your plant, rinse off all soil, and remove any rotted parts and damaged ugly leaves with a clean knife. let the plant dry off for a couple of days, at least. sprinkle fungicide on the cut areas. Repot with the light soil mix and add some Osmacote. Water well, set in bright light, then ignore it. Do not let it sit in a saucer of water very long. Water sparingly-too often will mean doom.
There are many kinds of sansevieria.Most are hard to find locally. Look at Glasshouseworks.com to figure out which one you have. Since sans grow in different environments their soil mixes and light needs vary.

This may sound odd but it works.

Sans like it on the very dry side. When my soils isn't drying out fast enough I let it sit on a heating pad (set to medium) for a day or two and that usually quickly dries out the soil.

If you haven't already done so, I would not wash off all the old mix. Just let it dry out for a while, at least a week & DON'T WATER 'til it's bone dry. Pls. cut off anythign which is soft or mushy as that's rot which you don't want to allow to spread.

Just so you know, succulents do not need to be watered in when repotting, it's simply not necessary & can risk roitting the plant. Just repot & knock the pot hard against the table to help settle it into the new mix.
