You might want to try Hermine Stover's Sansevieria book. It's available for free download on her website. I refer to it often. Lot's of interesting bits of information in there.

One of my books says found in Kenya. It also may grow in other countries in Africa, but this I will need to look up, so give me a minuute. British East Africa, Common atVoi, scaarce at Mwatate, Powell,10 by the river at mile 150-200 Thomson! Grows in sandy soil, and will not survive amongst scrub, and will not grow in open country. prefers dry fairly warm climate. Did the best I could at the monment. Okay, more information>:

You may still find sold under the name or S. singularis N.E. Brown.

The sample of Sansevieria guineensis at Kew came from Botswana, wherever that is.

Three come from India,
and perhaps three from Madagascar
Perhaps a few from other Island off the coast of Africa.
They are now being farmed in many countries, Brazil, U.S. China, Thailand, India, elsewhere. I don't know all the countries because there is no known list. Norma

The islands off Africa, and one species maybe in China? Perhaps, but no proof.
India,(3) Rhodesia, We have heard that recently one in Northern Africa, a few in Agolia,and the Congo. Well this will give you the general idea, perhaps you can Google it and get more information. Are y0u planning to travel to collect?
