I just got an Exotic Angel Plants "sansevieria triasciata" from Lowes. It's only about 4-6" tall. One of the leaves is split but I don't think I can repair it. Three of the tips were brown so I trimmed them back to a point as you guys described. I'm really afraid I'm going to kill this poor plant as i have never been able to keep anything alive. They promised hearty and forgiving, so I thought we'd give eachother a try... Any tips?

First,It will be best to remove any really damaged leaves at the base just above the roots. This will make the plant look new and fresh. Pot it in a well draining soil mix with vermiculite and osmacote mixed in. Do not use a pot that is too large for the plant. Put it in heat and bright light, no direct sun. Water when the soil dries out.

Osmacote is a common time release fertilizer. It looks like little yellow beads. Follow the directions on the container. Osmacote is safe and won't burn. Sansevierias all seem to love it.
Look at the glasshouseworks.com site. Search "sansevieria". There are pictures of the wide range of sansevieria types. It is an interesting group of plants.
