newbie needs help with Sans

I recently adopted a sans plant. I know very little about them but it seems to be a standard one with the yellow on the leaf edges. The growth pattern appears strange to me compared to the pictures I have seen on the web. I wish I could post a photo but am unable at this time so will describe to the best of my ability.

The plant has about 12 leaves, the tallest is about 20" Except for two leaves they appear to be one plant. Half of the leaves are much narrower at the base- is this normal? Also and of greater concern is that the leaves seem to be growing up and out the center of the plant, like a rosette but it is making the plant unstable with 3-4 leaves tipping over. I realize tipping can be a watering issue but it really appears the problem is it is not growing from the soil but the center of the plant.

Should I repot, trim...??? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Joan
