Most of my Sansevieria are put outdoors for the summer, and are kept in very bright conditions (the ones with the thickest leaves get the most sun, thinner leaves get more shade, but all are kept BRIGHT for the summer). Winter is difficult in New Jersey (US Zone 6), so most get to stay close to the windows, warmish (over 55F), and dry. They seem to not mind less light for the winter, but I really try to keep them from growing when they don't have enough light. New leaves grown over winter are longer than summer grown leaves.

Anyway, my stiffer, thicker leaf types I have out in full sun. The rest burn too easily, or fade, and I don't like that look so I keep them in Bright Light but no direct sun. Some right up against the window, some a bit back, depending on their size and how close I can get them.
