That is an interesting question. In summer my sans outdoors are in bright indirect light on a hot porch. They have osmacote mix in the soil. Most are growing and putting out pups very nicely. Inside, I have some sans under lights but it is much cooler and less humid than outside. These are also putting out pups and growing but slowly compared to outside. I think less light produces slower growth. But low light will not kill a sans.
The sans under artificial lights do respond well to it. There are variables--light strength and plant distance from the bulb and fertilizer. I have a hahnii jade that stretched up toward it's bright light.
So it just depends on how much effort you want to go to and if there is a look you are going for.
