Alan I have checked out the color. In the new Illustrated Handbook of Succulent Plants it says a different color. I want to copy off what it says in the new book. L. solitary, erect. cylindrical with 4-6 longitudinal furrows, 45-240 cm. narrowed slightly upwards to near tip, then narrowing shortly to a whitish stout acute tip, dull greyish-green or bluish-green, brighter green with pale green transverse bands when young, surface slightly rough.
So far that is all I can find. I do have twp more places to look, which I trust.
Alan I have never seen one this color, mine has not reached maturity, so I'll wait and see. My plant is about 13 years old at this time, I'm still waiting for it to send up a mature leaf. This book was not accurate on the colors of Crassula, but that does not mean it is wrong on this picture. It is hard to get color right in printing and taking of pictures. So far very little is said about browish. But they do say gray/green to blue/green.
I want to look around and see what other books say about the color of the mature leaf. Norma

I not sure but I read that S. fisheri was the offical name, and S. singularis is the syn. because S. fisheri was published first. Mine is not Lavander/brown in color at all but a very dark avacado green, more like S. pearsonii on the same page. I have both plants to compare. Norma
