While watering today I noticed that while the plant doesn't appear to be doing much on top it's sent a HUGE plant out of one of the drain holes in the pot!
It's in the nursery pot I bought it in. I want to repot it this weekend, should I just cut the new plant off? Divide the two in the pot?-they just look like a couple of leaves sticking out of the pot, about 4" apart, I'll be able to tell when I repot it if they are connected. It's in morning sun right now.
Any help with this one would be greatly appreciated. I'm very excited about it's new growth! Tally HO!
Hi beachplant, My Sans masoniana does pretty well in my yard where it gets filtered light and some direct sun. Whenever one of my Sans sends an offset out the drain hole it has been a chore to get it out. I use tin snips or really heavy-duty scissors to cut the pot apart. I find it tricky to cut around the hole without damaging the offset. Often it gets snapped off in the process. If the cut end dries out for a day or two, it usually roots after I pot it, though. I usually dip it in rooting hormone powder also.
I plan to cut it out of the pot. I'm usually pretty good at working them out of there without too much damage. Thanks for the info. I'm going to put 1/2 of it in the ground and some in a pot. Tally HO!
