S. trifasciata species type? S. zeylanica?

I have a tall, slightly sprawly Sansevieria, dark green with lighter crossbanding; a common plant that I think you all must know. I bought it unlabeled and have always assumed it was the type plant of S. trifasciata, without however having given the matter much thought. It looks a lot like S. trifasciata 'Laurentii' without the variegation, though I had registered that it is a bit less upright.

Anyway, I was browsing through The Glass House Works' juicy (succulent?) online catalog of Sansevierias and it finally dawned on me that their S. zeylanica looks an awful lot like my unnamed plant! So: is there a relationship between S. trifasciata and S. zeylanica? Is there a known type plant of S. trifasciata, or a group of types? Where does S. trifasciata come from? Any help easing my confusion is appreciated!

Melissa
