Winter Watering-Indoors

So I have a bunch of my Sans inside, in clay pots, well draining soil, topdressed with a little gravel. I have been letting them go pretty dry, to the point that the pots are feeling pretty light and the soil seems bone dry even a couple inches down. I don't let them stay like this too long, but I still have not noticed any shrivelling or limpness, or death for that matter. So is there a chance I am causing any harm by letting them get so dry for brief periods, or is it ok since they really aren't doing too much growing right now? Thanks for any advice!

Josh
