Pecan leak droppage+insects

About 3 yrs ago I planted a cutting from a Pecan tree from a nursery going out of business. Actually, the nursery was owned by one of the "Amos & Andy" actors after they retired. (if anyone's old enought to remember them :).
It is at 10-15 ft tall and the only tree in our yard that survived our hurricane last year.
It is bearing very large pecans. And a good grower.
Rather quickly, the leaves have been eaten around the edges, leaves are turning brownish-red and dropping at an alarming rate from the bottom up
There is a "critter" and larvae, too. Bright orange w/white spots, long black legs.
I went to our FLA Extension and they suggested "Malaphion" spray. Already have "Garden Safe" a mixture of pyrethrins & canola oil.
This little guy is a special survivor. Please help..... |
