Looking for a Bible...

I live in Charleston, SC (region 8) and I'm looking for a some sort of plant "bible" specific for my area if it even exist. I would like it to include a list of native plants to the area as well as imports that would look good and survive and thrive.
Any suggestions?

Hi Mr. David-
I am just a few miles south of you.
The Southern Living books were my bible for many a year
Steve Bender's "Passalong Plants"
The Plant Delights catalog (http://www.plantdelights.com/)
Antique Rose Emporium (https://www.antiqueroseemporium.com/)- I have had great luck with noisettes
I find that as many plants with historical/garden worthy value growing in Charleston- the local nurseries don't sell the plants that work! Check out gingers too!

The 'Bible' if you have the cash is Odenwald's 'Identification, Selection and use of Southern Plants'. My guru is Felder Rushing. He co-wrote 'Passalong Plants'. All of his books are gold standard.
