coreopsis moonbeam

I just ordered a bunch of Moonbeam from Bluestone and noticed in its catalog that it is recommended for the North... so does that mean it doesn't do that well here in the South. Any one has experience with this one? Thanks

It's supposed to be tolerant to Zone 8, so you may be "okay". Of course humidity will be a factor.

One thing about purchasing plants for your zone, is to try to buy plants that have been raised for generations in your particular environmental conditions. So a Moonbeam from Ohio may go through a stress period and even fail when transplanted in coastal SC because it is a different "Ecotype" than ones that have adapted to your area. This means the same species can have differences in height, leaf size, flowering time, resistance to diseases and pests, etc., depending on it's local environmental conditions.

Sorry to go on and on.......I'm sure this is more info than you wanted.

Bottom line: see what happens. If this batch fails, try growing from seed or purchasing plants grown in similar conditions as your area.

I have that in my rock garden (zone 6b/7a). It's dry and gets about 100 degrees down there, since the garden faces the lake and all the light reflects. It did great. I'm just having trouble raising it's seeds!

I read somewhere on GW that you can't grow moonbeam from seed. Only propagate from other plants. Has anyone seen moonbeam seeds for sale in any of the catalogs?
