Any advice on keeping a 7 sisters rose alive in Savannah?
Thanks! |

I can't think of a thing. Do you have other roses in the area? So much of the Savannah soil is just too acid for roses. And, if you are in some areas of the county, the soil is badly contaminated with root nematodes. I can get roses to exist (I won't say do well) for a few years, and that's it. I have had some to go the first year.

Thanks. Not encouraging but I'll try. There are some beautiful roses at St. Peter's on Wilmington Island so I guess there's hope. Probably lots of serious spraying involved to keep them that way.

Some of the best beds in the area are those that have the original soil dug out and replaced with soil that is more clay than our sandy stuff. Yes, and you have to spray and pray!! The dratted humidity lets all sorts of yucky organisms feed on the roses. Have you seen the beds outside of the YMCA on Wilmington? I don't know if they are in full bloom yet, but they are something special when they are.

Haven't seen the ones at the Y, yet. Replacing the soil sounds good. Right now my cuttings are growing in potting soil in a container. Thanks for the info!
