help choosing a small tree for patio

| Would like to plant a small tree in a patio area- patio is approx. 14x23, would like something for a little shade, but nothing that matures to giant proportion. thought about smaller variety crape myrtle, but would love something a little more uncommon for this area (Carteret County) and something a little shady but maybe even columnar, not sure.
anyone with experience with this please share your advice! |

| Is the area in full sun? Is the soil wet or dry? |
