Camphor wood/tree

My neighbor cut down a camphor tree and now has a mound of camphor mulch in her yard. It smells wonderful, but is it good for anything? She said she heard not to use it a mulch around plants.

The attached link might shed some light on this topic. I can find no indication that this plant cannot be used as mulch.

RE: Camphor wood/tree/mulch

Camphor kills surrounding growth. All plant types. Camphor for mulch only its aged. Including link that explains it. I've got a HUGE camphor tree in my front yard (GOD forbid you touch it when its in bloom. My partner and I both thought we were catching a cold or flu, until we realized it was trimming lower branches on that tree.)
