the smell of early summer.....

Gardenias, Confederate Jasmine, and Honeysuckle blooming all at once - everywhere!. Can hardly distinguish one scent from the other. So incredibly sweet! Almost enough to make me stop missing those Lilacs from up North. Almost.

I know what you mean. The heavy perfume of confederate jasmine is intoxicating, but we always miss the smells of our childhood. I remember laying in bed at night with the window open in the summertime and the smell of the lilac bush growing outside my window wafting in on the cool breeze. I've been in the South for 22 years and I still yearn for that smell. That, however, does not make me appreciate the unique beauty of the south any less. Besides, I love the rich culture of the south and its people.

No argument here.....Most every thing is blooming away for me. ....The chilly fresh morning air, the bright sky,
the delightful fragrance from the garden makes the air intoxicating! I am ready to get outdoors and work in the
yard again and start looking forward to rain from time to time to keep my garden lush green.

And the wonderful fragrance of the much maligned wild clover -- fills my whole house when the back door is open. I'll pull it in the front lawn to keep up appearances, but what the neighbors don't know about what lies beyond the privacy fence...LOL. It's a great draw for getting the bees into my yard to to do the pollinating, and it keeps those precious little (must be dwarf they're so tiny) bunnies out of my plants because they're so happy to eat it instead. Were it not for the "weeds" now thriving, I probably wouldn't even mow it!

and the fragrance of the roses, flowering citrus...

I, too miss Lilac. And the fragrance of the flowering Linden trees.
